Here in Daytona Beach this past March we had record highs with record lows within on week. Keeps a beach photographer on her toes, that’s for sure! I’m so happy for our families who kept with the program and were rewarded with cherished family portraits as keepsakes for the family visits!

High school seniors looking for the unique and different come to Daytona Beach Florida and Cooper Photography for the once in a lifetime Senior Portrait Session. Our seniors this week are both on their Yearbook Committee and both waited for ‘something different’. Annie from Worthington, Ohio and Caitlin from the Duluth area of Minnesota both rocked the (unseasonably) chilly and windy days. They were awesome!!

Unexpected events can happen when planning location photography, just ask our Children’s Models and Fashion Coordinator Nada Manley. We had planned to use colorful Kites as props to match the spring colors of clothing from Dillards. Our winter weather had been warm and sunny for months. Sooo… our shoot day comes and it is cold and rainy, and the props didn’t arrive. But the kids were great, we used the Victorian Porch in our Cooper Photography location and worked it!

Family Portraits over the Holidays

Holiday time is perfect for family portraits! Just think of all the good you can do with just one little portrait session. Here’s my list: Christmas and Holiday Cards, gifts for the Grandparents who don’t really need anything in particular, gift for Mom, who is always into her children and family, a yearly chronicle of the family history in photography, and after a few years it’s the gift that keeps on giving. Just think of the ways it keeps on giving, we have a wonderful image of our loved ones who are no longer with us, we can see the children go from toddler to teenager or checkout the ‘it seemed to be good idea at the time’ hair-do. No matter what the reason, I personally love my Thanksgiving and Christmas family portraits.

This I know when I see a teenager practicing for the final presentation, with battered sore and bleeding feet on ‘points’ But it’s all worth it!

Cloudy days for Family Portraits at Daytona Beach can actually be an asset! Soft lighting is great for portraits giving smooth creamy skin textures. This November day it was cloudy and unfortunately chilly and windy! But not to fear, our awesome Oates family from Orlando were real troopers and we had a great time! They braved the 60 degree weather and we worked with the wind, Yay for us!! (Take that Mr. Wind Chill!) We used the rocks over the inlet, sand dunes and the nature area. Here are a few I picked out that show a relaxed, perfectly imperfect day. Like life.
