Now is the best time of year for vacation family portraits on the beach – whether you live here or not. I know that doesn’t make sense, but really, I live here and every time I walk the beach I feel like I’m on vacation. The sound of the waves, a breeze and a lovely day can take you any where!

Engagement photos on the job

Angelina and Alberto. Even the names sound like they go together. Angelina planned their engagement portrait session at a place they are the most, Alberto’s Pizza Restaurant in Edgewater, Florida, specializing in hand tossed pizzas. And Alberto has that art down perfectly, as he was taught by his father, Alberto, who was taught by his father, Alberto. Yes, 3 generations and many restaurants have been in the family. I will personally attest to the perfectness of a handmade pizza – Yum!

We had some fun with their images as you can see below. They’re looking forward to an October wedding at the Plaza Resort in Daytona Beach.

Wedding at Chapel in the Garden, Port Orange

One of our favorite places for wedding photography is Tavern and Chapel in the Garden. Amanda and John had a beautiful outdoor wedding under the gazebo, it was a small intimate gathering of around 50 close family and friends. They chose a Monday wedding and enjoyed a discount as is becoming quite popular. We have some sweet images below.

Sammy, our guest 10 year old golden retriever who came with the Boscovich children along with dog friend Millie, had a good time with Ashley, Brett and Chase. But our 3rd floor loft at the new Cooper Photography location, 116 Bay St, downtown Daytona Beach was a challenge to Sammy going down! I am still finding new spots for creativity at our 100+ year old Victorian house, life is good!!

Our children and doggies had a good time! Aren’t they sweet! I miss my Goldens. I had 4 awesome dogs. Red Dog, Thor, Sam and Alex, you’ll live on in memory forever!

First Communion Portraits for little Emma

Little Emma is making one of her milestone steps in her religious life. At Santa Maria del Mar in Flagler Beach, she will join her fellow schoolmates for her First Holy Communion. Such a sweet girl!! We also added one of her portraits from the Wild Garden at our new location, 116 Bay St. Daytona Beach. Our 100+ year old Victorian house has let my creative juices’ fly!

I remember when I had my First Holy Communion at St. Mary’s in Annapolis, Md. Even though I now attend a different church I’m so glad I have a strong background and belief in our higher power.

That being said, don’t you think she is the sweetist?

Cooper Photography opened up two weekends in February for fun filled children’s modeling sessions. Maribeth of The Diamond Modeling Agency is the judge to select just 3 of our 16 models to win a magazine highlight in Flagler and Volusia Parent Magazine. I don’t envy her job! We had the cutest, prettiest, most personality children I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with. Our first goal was to find runway models for the annual Children’s Expo in September, then select 3 for a Model Highlight section in the magazine. All of our sessions were at our new location, 116 Bay St. Daytona Beach, at our beautiful Victorian house. Take a look at our young models, could you pick just 3?

I love creative locations! Portrait photography centers on the individual first, and the setting second. But don’t you just love a beautiful portrait such as the Old Masters could create? Something that is true art? But can you have fun with true art and a playful setting at the same time?

Twilight at Cooper Photography

Think you know what the word Twilight means? I thought so too, but I looked it up just to be sure. Here it is: Twilight – The diffused light from the sky when the sun is below the horizon but its rays are refracted by the atmosphere of the earth.

Wow, great definition. So I’m frequently asked, “When is the best time for our pictures on the beach?”. And I answer, “I like to start an hour before sunset.” This gives us time for pretty sunshine or the flattering light of a soft, hazy day. Then if we get a special perk, we have a spectacular twilight display. Our next word of the day is ‘Serendipity’ – an event by chance in a happy or fortunate way. It’s life’s way of saying, “Be at the right place at the right time”. Chance is great but planning is better.
